About String Loaded Celtic Fiddle Band

String Loaded are a multi-award winning Irish & Celtic Fiddle Band from Newcastle, Australia. Awards include: Australian Celtic Artist of the Year, Celtic Instrumentalist of the Year, Celtic Group of the Year, Celtic Album of the Year for Beggars & Butterflies and numerous Peoples Choice Awards at folk music festivals.

This high energy family band is known for their upbeat and passionate Irish, Scottish, Bluegrass fiddle music and singing. The band features the feisty fiddle playing sisters, Gabi and Liv, supported by Ray, on guitar and Jen on bodhran and telling the stories behind the tunes. Influences come from the rich music and folklore traditions of Scotland, Ireland & American Bluegrass music. 

String Loaded formed in 2009 in response to a multi-generational family history and love of Irish and Scottish music.  After 10 years of performing together and learning from some of the best Irish, Scottish and bluegrass players in Australia and Scotland the band is now taking the world by storm. String Loaded have been lucky enough to have performed at some of the most exciting Folk Festivals including the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland, The Accordion and Fiddle Festival on the Orkney Islands, The Woodford Folk Festival in QLD, The Australian Celtic Festival and the Tamworth Country Music Festival.

The music and songs String Loaded perform are a mix of traditional and contemporary, with a very exciting uplifting sound. The band specialises in parties and concerts that have a traditional Irish flavour and include a mix of story telling, fast and fun Irish jigs and reels (think The Corrs) Irish songs like ‘Whisky in the Jar’ and slow poignant ballads like Danny Boy. 

String Loaded are popular performers at many local and interstate festivals including: Australian Celtic Festival NSW, Koroit Irish Festival VIC, Bony Mountain Festival QLD, Bundanoon Highland Gathering, Tamworth Country Music Festival, Maitland Tattoo and many local festivals, cultural events, corporate functions and private parties. String Loaded have performed with a host of amazing musicians including Jimmy Barnes, Andrew Clermont, Alistair Fraser & Natalie Haas, Pixie Jenkins, Allan Caswell, Marcus Holden, John Williamson, Marian Burns and many more.
